Colorado Republican Party Congressional District 7
Assemblies and Conventions

Congressional district assemblies are held every two years. The attendees are delegates elected at the precinct caucuses held in January, February or March of every other year. The number of delegates allowed for each congressional district is based upon the number of votes for the candidates for governor or the president of the party holding the assembly.

Once a delegate is elected at the caucus, they attend the Congressional District assembly held after the county assembly. At the assembly, the delegates approve amendments to the by-laws, conduct other business and nominate candidates for the Congressional District. These candidates include nominees for the office of the representative to the U.S. Congress, the State Board of Education and the CU Board of Regents.

Conventions are held every four years at the assembly in conjunction with the presidential campaign.
How the District is Organized

The purpose of a political party's congressional district organization is to elect a representative to the United States Congress every two years.

Every 10 years, following the U.S. Census, new boundries are drawn for congressional districts based on the increase or decrease in population.

Once the boundries are set, each party holds a organizational meeting of all of the precinct leaders in the congressional district. A chairman, vice chairman, secretary and representative to the state executive committee are elected. This election follows the precinct caucuses and the county assembly every two years. A treasurer and any committees are appointed by the chairman. These elected officials are responsible for the day to day operation of the district.  They plan and produce the assemblies and conventions required by state and federal law.
