Colorado businessman Joe Coors announced his candidacy to seek the Republican
nomination in Congressional District 7 this morning at the Lakewood campus of Red Rocks Community College.
"I'm running for Congress
because I still believe in the American Dream," said Coors. "Washington needs leaders who have actually created jobs and built organizations
that know how to compete in the global economy. I believe in an American Dream that still offers opportunity to those who work hard
and take risks to succeed for them and their families."
Coors is a former President and CEO at CoorsTek, Inc., a technical ceramic
manufacturing company that has grown to 3,500 employees at 44 plants located in 14 countries. He cited his concern business experience
and as reasons for wanting to help the district.
He cited the size of the national debt and the continued level of federal spending
as his top concerns. “We need to make sure free enterprise is allowed to continue to grow and prosper in this country, creating the
new jobs we need for the 12 million Americans currently unemployed.”
In attendance were Joe's wife Gail and children Brad, Douglas, and Holly, as well as his grandchildren.
